Modern Classic

My Decorator had the privilege of working with these clients to give their home a refreshing makeover in the Modern Classic interior style.  We recommended that the spacious home with it’s lovely high ceilings be painted in a half strength paint colour chosen to make the overall feel of the home more cosy and intimate, a brave choice but the outcome was definitely worth the risk.  New plush pile carpet was installed throughout the lounge, family and upstairs landing, hall and bedrooms.

The biggest challenge was coming up with a solution for the space between the kitchen and the family area as this was always an empty unused area. We decided that an extra sitting zone would bring the best outcome, providing my client extra seating for friends to sit and relax while she was cooking or a space for sitting away from the family room that had the TV for some quiet time.  This space was tiled so we decided to keep the area open by having a custom rug made in the same tone as the flooring to soften the area and also help acoustically.  Ambient lighting was added, new lounges in a light tone to contrast with the wall colour (the photos don’t do this contrast justice) and the colour palette was chosen to coordinate with my clients own existing artwork.  A lovely timber coffee table and quirky side table finish the look along with stylish decorator accessories.

New pendant lights were added above the island bench, which tied in beautifully with the timber tones in the meal and the black in the new sitting zone.

New curtains were installed throughout, bringing luxury to the home, the colour again was chosen to slightly contrast the walls which they did beautifully.  They also brought wonderful acoustic benefits to my client who has a keen appreciation of music.

The homes interior now has a sophisticated elegance to it brought about by it’s mature muted colour palette and well-chosen furniture and furnishings.  We celebrated the new look sitting in the living area with a lovely glass of wine.
