Interior Design Renovation – Preserving Legacy, Embracing Future

A Timeless Dream Home for Cherished Heirlooms, Memorable Gatherings and Endless Laughter

We had the absolute pleasure of assisting our lovely clients with one of our design packages for the interior design renovation of their home. The rooms we transformed were the lounge, dining, sitting area and additional family areas.

Our brief was to design the home so that it was beautiful, flowing and had a warm ‘homie’ welcoming feel to it. Our client had some meaningful pieces and collections that were both handmade, passed down from loved ones or collected whilst traveling that they also wanted incorporated into the design.

Lounge – Before and After

What We Did

We designed the spaces to ensure our clients home had all the feelings of a warm embrace. That it not only functioned better then it ever had but also had comfortable spaces. We strived to create zones that people genuinely enjoyed being in, where conversation easily flowed. The home truly became an entertainers delight.

Dining – Before and After

We began the design process by taking a detailed brief from our client of their hopes for the space. What was and wasn’t working. How they needed the space to function. Who it needed to accomodate and how they wanted to feel while using it.

Additional Sitting Area – Before and After

The next step was to take this information and put together a detailed design plan that showed visuals of how the new spaces could look. We wanted to show featured floor plans that illustrated walk ways and overall flow of the areas. This design plan for the interior design renovation was presented and once finalised we showed our clients the items, during a designated shopping trip. In home consults were held with Curtain and Rug specialists. These appointments gave opportunity for coordinating colour, size and to ensure that a harmonious overall look would be achieved.

The final step was styling. Once the new flooring was installed, walls freshly painted, curtains hung and the furniture arrived, we came out and styled each space. We styled with decor items such as cushions, throw rugs. The art was hung, we ensured the furniture was positioned in it’s best position. We did all the finishing touches that took the room from one with lovely furniture but otherwise empty, to a beautiful home filled with a lot of heart and ready for memory making.

What Recommendations Did We Make

One of the big changes that was recommended in our design plan was furniture layout. We moved the dining table to the rear by the stairwell of the open plan family area. Also we moved the lounge suite away from the wall and into the middle of the room.  These changes made the space much more user friendly and much better zoned.  It also allowed more seating in both instances for those using the spaces.

With the outdoor verandah being closed in this allowed for a whole extra living space. The Mediterranean contemporary styling was continued with a lighter colour palette of neutral, grey and rattan and light woods. This colouring helped keep the area feeling light, open, cool, relaxed and spacious.

The addition of sheer curtains to the sitting room and lounge, dining elevated the rooms giving them a relaxed sophistication that added softness and elegance.

Lastly, our client had a collection of cherished heirlooms which were beautifully framed. Handmade American inspired cross stitch that was also framed and collated into a gallery wall proudly displaying the work of our lovely clients many hours of crafting.

All of this beautiful design culminated into a look where the spaces are now ready to be used for creating memorable gatherings and enjoying endless laughter.
