A City Apartment Interior Design

Recently we had the pleasure of completing a city apartment interior design. This was for a client project that we have been working on over a multiple of months.

The brief was to design the city apartment interior design to ensure it functioned at its best. The aim was that a spacious, cohesive, beautiful look would be achieved.

The apartment was in Sydneys McMahons Point, and had a beautiful view out onto some big old gum trees. The trees would often house native birds that we often got to see when on site working.

What we did

We set to work designing the space based on our clients brief. Our colour scheme recommendation was inspired by both the natural outlook and my client’s personal colour preferences. The design we proposed for her space was contemporary with a serene light and relaxed spacious feel.

Lounge, Before and After

We spent the time collating furniture, rug, art, fabric recommendations. We put this all together in a Design Plan that we presented and chatted through. On approval we moved forward with implementation which included trips to suppliers, working with our soft furnishings specialist to design and install curtains and finally styling the rooms with decor items, cushions, plants etc… to achieve the end result. We had our Art Installer in attendance on Styling Day so that the room was fully complete and ready to be enjoyed by our client.

Further recommendations

A open timber bookshelf was recommended to be a divider between the entry and lounge area of the apartment. This would be used to provide both some privacy and visual interest on arrival. Stylish designer lounges were chosen due to their striking design line, linen natural look upholstery and comfort. Art was the bridge that merged all the items together, with its soft colour palette and muted abstract style. The soft floor rug added some solid print yet echoed the colour palette of the artwork. Lamps were key to adding ambience in the evenings and an element of sculpture during the day. A stone top coffee table was chosen to keep the room feeling open and spacious.

The dining table in a mid tone timber coordinates beautifully with the tan upholstery on the dining chairs. This creates a comfortable chair for dining in or if more seating is needed when entertaining. These chairs can be moved to the lounge area of the apartment to provide extra seating.

What our Client Said about the New Look City Apartment Interior Design

This is what our lovely client had to say about working with us:

‘Engaging a designer was a completely new experience for me moving from a very big family house to a one-bedroom apartment. From my very first contact with Prue she was easily my choice, friendly, approachable and upfront with how it all works and what to expect. Prue 100% listened and delivered on everything I asked for, and more. She had the vision and gently encouraged me every step of the way. She measured, shopped and styled. I love everything, the layout, the colours, the feel and can’t believe what a difference she has made to the detailed work involved and the final beautiful ambience of my new home. I highly recommend her’. Gael, McMahons Point.
