How to Successfully Use the Pantone Colour of 2022 in Your Home

Interior Design and Decorator Tips

Drum roll, please……. The Pantone colour of 2022 is Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri.

Very Peri is a blue with a red-violet undertone. We know from a colour psychology perspective that blues emote feelings of rest, tranquillity and calm. I wonder if this colour was chosen for this reason. An opportunity to speak positive calm over what we hope will be a better year than the 2021 that we have just come through.

Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute said the colour was chosen because of its ability to display spritely joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expressions.

Dining Room inspired by Very Peri

We know that the Pantone Colour of the year does become part of colour ranges for various industries such as fashion, marketing, industrial design, interior design, the automotive industry and more. It will be interesting to watch and see how the colour rolls out across society through these various sectors.

So how can Very Peri be used in our homes? Since blue is such a tranquil colour it will be ideal for use in places where you are wanting to feel rested, such as Bedrooms. It does come down to personal preference, if you absolutely love this colour you could introduce larger doses of it into your home. I do think the colour is a touch too pretty to use on all 4 walls of a given room, however, it can certainly be used for soft furnishing like quilt covers for bedrooms. It could also be used in accents like scatter cushions or decorative accessories in the living rooms of your home.

Very Peri would make nice pairings with pastel tones of lilacs, sky blue, light butter yellow to create a soft interior colour palette. You could also use Very Peri in a muted palette of murky mustards, burnt oranges, moss greens. I could also see this colour being used with brights like citrus lemon, strawberry and lime. Very Peri could also be the accent or feature for neutral colour palettes of black and white, or greys, or beiges.

We hope you enjoy experimenting with some Very Peri in your home and life this year.

Happy Decorating!
