As an Interior Designer, I regularly get asked how do interior designers work along with many of the following questions about our services so thought I’d take a moment to answer these questions to hopefully assist you.
What happens during an Interior Design Consultation? We begin by finding out how we can assist you, and answer any design questions you have. As a result we may work with you to determine your home’s Interior Style, Colour Scheme and Your Lifestyle needs. We might make recommendations for finishes such as flooring, benchtop or cabinetry.
Furniture – style, shape and colour. Soft furnishings like window coverings and rugs. We may chat through lighting and recommend some options for task, mood and ambient lighting throughout your home. We may measure your space and work with you to determine what the best furniture layout will be to suit your lifestyle. The details of the consult are all recorded in a Summary Report that will be emailed to you after the consultation. During or after the consultation you may opt to continue the project yourself or have us partner with you for further support.
We discuss the space you are intending on painting and determine how you use the space, your lifestyle, the look that you are wanting to achieve, colour psychology, and natural and artificial lighting and then use our paint fan decks to create a short list of possible paint colours, for the various elements of your home. We then arrange to post your short list of paint colours as A4 samples. You will also receive a Summary Report of what we discussed and selected during your consultation, listing each paint colour for the various surfaces of your home so you can advise your painter. When you receive the paint colours you can use our guide to help you determine the best colour choice for you.


Consultations are usually up to two hours in length. During this time we can cover a lot. Our intention is always to provide you with the most amount of value and assistance during this time.
A Design Package is the next step after a Interior Design Consult if you are after more detail and support. Your designer will glean a more detailed brief from you and then create a design plan for your space, that shows recommended furnishings, furniture, decor items and more. A face to face presentation of your Design Plan takes place and once we have confirmed design direction we then go on a shopping trip to show you the recommended items. When the items arrive in your home your designer will come out and style the space so that all you then need to do is enjoy it.
You can pay direct funds transfer or credit card over the phone.

Yes. It’s important that you see and try (for instance the comfort of lounge) for yourself the items we are recommending for you. Ideally, if all the decision makers can be present during the shopping trip the best outcome will be achieved. This is your home after all.
Yes, there will be various occasions where you will be able to access better pricing on products due to working with us.
We prefer to work with you to implement the job.

Do you do exterior landscaping too? Unfortunately, we aren’t qualified to give landscaping or plant recommendations, however, we have assisted clients with outdoor furniture selection and layout and overall vision for the exterior of their home in the past and it gives owners the opportunity to create beautiful continuity by carrying the design through.
Consultations take place on-site where the design work is intended.
No, there is no need as it’s always best that consults are done either in situ in your home so we can accurately select colours and see them in your home’s varied lighting or we visit a retailer or supplier to assist where needed.
This is the beauty of paint samples, we can try an alternative until we find a colour that you love. This also applies to any finishes too, for instance, flooring or upholstery, curtain fabric. It’s always best to have large samples of the choice you are considering so you can live with it for a period of time to confirm the colour is right for your space and you.
