We all know about the common Christmas palettes of Red and Green. Red, Green and Gold. Gold and Silver. Blue and Silver, but what if we got inspired with some Christmas decorations colour scheme ideas? What if we introduced you to an alternate range of colour palettes that could really set you apart from the rest?
You may say, but they don’t make decorations in all of those colours. Think outside the box with your decoration sourcing. Use ribbon, beads, coloured lights, repurpose what you already own by spray painting your baubles to match your chosen colour palette decorations.
Colour Palettes
Below I have put together a mix of colour palettes to get you inspired.
Violet, mustard with turquoise.
Deep purple and copper.
Magenta and lemon yellow
Emerald, sapphire, rust and crimson.
Teal, royal blue and amethyst.
Cherry red, claret and terracotta.
Consider creams, pastels, neon, brights, jewel tones and muted colours as options too.
Consider Location
While there are a lot of colour palettes that are beautiful and rich evoking a real winter wonderland feel I’m aware that celebrating Christmas in the Southern hemisphere brings with it a unique set of challenges. I.e. By the time Christmas Day arrives, we are all feeling hot, and want to spend the day relaxing in airconditioned comfort not cosying up to a nice warm fire. So I’ve found that the best colour schemes for an Aussie Christmas are cool ones. Blues, greens, silvers, greys, whites and so on. The thought of looking at a Traditionally decorated Christmas Tree with its red and gold makes my physical temperature rise. Colour psychology truly applies in this instance when it comes to decorating. What are your thoughts on a cool colour palette versus a warm one?

I hope you find these Christmas decorations colour scheme options helpful and that you feel inspired to decorate your Christmas Tree and home with one of these this year.
Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year!
